There is so much to love about a Rainbow vacuum cleaner, it is an extremely powerful cleaner. This machine cleans the wall, floors, carpets, and even the air you breathe. It uses water to trap dust, dirt, and odors.
Many of us take the time to keep the cleaner clean, but often forget an important part of the machine. The suction hose.
The hose is one of the last items we think about cleaning. It is only when we experience suction problems, we wonder how to clean rainbow vacuum hose.
In this article, we explain how you can remove the hose from the cleaner, unclog it by using the machine itself, and how to wash the inside of the hose.
Disassembling the vacuum cleaner hose
Before we can clean the hose on a vacuum cleaner, the first step is to remove hose from rainbow vacuum cleaners. Removing the hose will make unclogging and washing the hose a lot easier to do.
To disassemble the hose
- Ensure the vacuum cleaner is not connected to a power source, if it is, switch the wall plug and remove the cable cord
- Hold the curved handle in your hands and remove the top wand from the handle
- Detach the hose from the wand
- Release the latches on either side of the hose attached to the canister or water basin
- The hose should now be free from the vacuum cleaner, wand, and handle.
Unclogging the hose
Once the rainbow vacuum hose is free and you can see a buildup of fluff and debris inside the hose. You need to unclog the hose, especially if the suction power of your vacuum cleaner has decreased.
Unclogging your Rainbow vacuum hose is easy. All you need are your Rainbow vacuum cleaner, hose, and possibly a cleaning cloth to seal the hose port or exhaust.
Rainbow vacuum cleaners have excellent suction power and a lot of the time, you can use the cleaner itself to clear the clog in the hose.
You can follow any of the four following easy tips to quickly unclog your Rainbow vacuum cleaner.
- Insert the hose handle into the hose port on the front side of your Rainbow vacuum and turn the vacuum on to suck out the dirt
- On the back of the vacuum cleaner, you will see a vent cover for the exhaust. Remove the cover and insert the hose in the exhaust, then turn on the vacuum to remove the clog
- While the hose is attached to the rear vent, you can insert the handle side of the hose in the hose port on the front of the vacuum and suck out the clog
- While the handle is in the hose port, take your cleaning cloth and fold it around the handle. This will help seal the area around the handle, creating a more powerful suction for you to remove the clog.
If you have tried all these methods with no success, then there is still the good old-fashioned broomstick method you can use.
- Take the hose and lay it out straight and flat
- Take a broom and insert the handle into the hose
- Push the clog out on the other side of the hose
- Be careful not to damage the hose.
Water and mild ingredients to clean vacuum hose
To clean out a rainbow vacuum hose would depend on the severity of dirt on the inside.
- Brush or wipe off any loose and noticeable debris on the outside of the hose with a damp cloth or soft brush
- If the hose is slightly dusty on the inside, you can place it under the tap and rinse it out with warm water only
- If your rainbow vacuum hose needs a good wash. Use a washbasin filled with warm water, enough to submerge the entire hose in water
- Do not use harsh chemicals to clean rainbow vacuum hose, use a mild detergent such as dishwashing soap to wash the hose
- Allow the soapy water to run through the inside of the hose, then swirl it around in the water to loosen the dirt
- You can even close one end of the hose with one hand and the other with the other hand and shake the soapy water inside the hose
- To remove stubborn dirt, use a good quality cleaning brush to scrub the dirt from the folds inside the hose
- Once you are satisfied the hose is clean, rinse with plain warm water
- Leave the hose to dry for a full day by allowing the excess water to drip out from inside the hose.
